    Market News Feb 1, 2016

Which D.C. Neighborhood is Predicted to be the Hottest of 2016?

This year, Mount Pleasant came in at #1 for the D.C. area – followed by 16th Street Heights and Woodbridge / Fort Lincoln. Mt. Pleasant is known for its charming neighborhood feel with Wardman-style townhomes that are typically larger than rowhouses in other parts of the city and typically have access to alley parking.

A trend that has emerged in this year’s hottest neighborhoods is that buyers are looking for homes and neighborhoods with character. Buyers are bypassing “cookie cutter” homes in neighborhoods that didn’t make the rankings for the charming original architecture and tree-lined streets that give them stand out personalities. Mount Pleasant does just that. Not only does the neighborhood have highly ranked schools, but also offers retail options on Mt. Pleasant Street and is conveniently located next to Rock Creek Park and the National Zoo.

The neighborhood has a tucked away feel, but offers a number of transit options including Rock Creek Parkway, nearby bus routes and relatively easy access to the Columbia Heights Metro station. The market has been hot for the past few years and shows no signs of slowing down.
